Well, I be updating again. And, this time, I wanted to share some thoughts on the NCAA Tournament. Well, as some of you might know, my Hawkeyes got scorched by a last second miracle shot by 14-seed Northwestern State. Obviously, I'm kinda torn. On one hand, I'm saddened by Iowa's loss (Northern Iowa also fell today). On the other hand, we went out in almost as grand a fashion as possible: Dropped by a last-second miracle shot by a double-digit seed. Speaking of buzzer beaters, today's NW State shot joins Tennessee's drain-o to sink Winthrop's hopes of a 15-2 upset in the CBS "One Shining Moment" tape when Final Four time rolls around. Man, what a weekend it's already been. What else has been happening since I last talked to you? Well, I celebrated my 22nd birthday last week. Spent the night at Prairie Meadows, the local racetrack here in Iowa, and took a couple shots at the horses. Started out with $20 to play with, and ended up adding about $4 to it. So, a pretty good night. We're thinking about going back during the upcoming Spring Break. In a recent post, I told you I got my cable upgraded a few months back. Well, part of that upgrade was a digital reciever that we set up in the living room. I've been going there a couple times, mainly during the NFL season. Speaking of football, a belated congratulations to Pittsburgh for winning the Super Bowl last month. The commercials were pretty good this year. My personal favorite was the FedEX prehistoric ad. | | Wednesday, January 4th, 2006 | | 3:02 am |
Oy....
It's 3 AM, and I'm stil awake. Obviously, I've been keeping tabs on Monday's miner accident in West Virginia. You may have already heard the bad news, but for those who don't (by the time you read this), here's the latest. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10682163/Bizarre, tragic situation. :( | | Thursday, December 8th, 2005 | | 12:19 am |

Here's something you don't see out of Food Network...
An Iron Chef episode featuring the first and only French Iron Chef, Ishinabe. Food Network's currently airing one of his few battles from the 1993 season (first season). I was starting to think they didn't have any '93 episodes in their library. Tres cool. | | Tuesday, October 18th, 2005 | | 1:56 pm |
Meme, and musings
First, the meme, snagged from chrismactaggart: And now, for the musings: Wow... how awesome has baseball's postseason been this year? We've had 18-inning drama (Braves-Astros NLDS game 4), a surprise ALCS (White Sox-Angels, with the White Sox winning their first pennant in 46 years), and most shockingly, NO Yankees or Red Sox! Last night just added to the drama, as the Cardinals, one strike away from seeing Busch Stadium get the wrecking ball, get saved by Albert Pujouis' big fly. Game 6 on Wednesday. I still think Houston's in the Series. This week was primo football viewing. We had some buzzer beating plays, last second heroics, and just-all around insanity. My favorite game of the weekend was USC/Notre Dame, as the Trojans found another way to keep their now 28-game winning streak in tact. In the NFL, the Colts remain the league's lone threat to the '72 Dolphins after storming back from 17-3 to clock the Rams last night. I won't really be concerned about this unless they end up being 10-0. As I said on Thursday, we got our cable upgraded with some new channels. I'm especially becoming a fan of the videogame channel known as G4TV. And, that's about it. | | Thursday, October 13th, 2005 | | 11:46 am |
Cable Upgrade
We got our long awaited cable upgrade today, which sees the return of Cartoon Network, Headline News, and Food Network to my daily viewing routine, as well as some new channels like the Golf Channel, G4TV (the video game channel) and Speed Network (Mom's a big NASCAR fan, so I think she'll enjoy this). | | Sunday, October 9th, 2005 | | 9:57 pm |

Anime Quiz!
Snagged from an online friend of mine: Your element is Air: Carefree, lovable, fun and childish. Arent you cute! Your just full of childhood spunk and happiness! Hey who said being young was a bad thing? You have a keen understanding of whats good in life and choose to remain happy rather than get too upset over things. Life is fun, who wants to be troubled by grown-up problems? Being as capable of love as you are you will make a wonderful parent if and when you choose to grow up. Love is a mystery because you only want friends not love interests, games are better than relationships with the opposite sex. You have what everyone is searching for, that so called 'fountain of youth' deep inside. You can come across as naive and childish at times. But who cares what they think, lets go play tag! .:-|What is your true element?|-:. -With Anime Pictures and detailed answers- brought to you by QuizillaYeah, that kinda describes me pretty well. | | Saturday, July 23rd, 2005 | | 6:05 pm |
Hey! I really do have a perfectly good excuse for not reporting this past week. Two, actually. 1.) Internet went belly up, again. Luckily, we've been able to fix the problem. 2.) I've been in the hospital the past few days. Just got back last night. Official diagnosis: An enlarged bladder. That's why my belly button was spewing. We're using a foley catheder for now, and will switch to intermittant cathing in a few weeks. So, that's pretty much been my week. :(. Hopefully things will be better the next time I post. | | Wednesday, July 6th, 2005 | | 8:31 pm |

Well, I'm back from my operation. We've got the belly button problem fixed up, and I'm as good as new. We went with the local anesthesia, meaning I was awake for the whole process, which didn't take more than 30 minutes. All went well, of course. *looks at Journal* ACK! Another of my long phases between posts. It's just, I've been very busy. I'm going to have my belly button removed next week. It's been leaking fluid for some strange reason, and the operation is apparently going to stop it. Also, my computer melted down last month. Luckily, my big brother's as much a computer whiz as I am, so he just reset everything and had me start over. I've been checking the Cubs' Triple-A baseball team here in Iowa. I even got to see Kerry Wood make his first rehab start here. He'll start for Chicago tomorrow, and after Prior's performance Sunday, I've got high hopes that he'll perform just as well. Other than that, it's been the usual out of me. I've made a few internet friends since I last posted, and I've been honing my writing skills doing some fan fiction. I'll try to post more than I have. Key word being, "try." | | Tuesday, March 29th, 2005 | | 2:22 pm |
An old-school quiz
You're Jason, the Red Ranger. You have the power of the Tyrannosaurus. You're weapon of choice is the sword. Did I mention you're the leader of the Power Rangers? Yeah, that's right. The leader. You don't have much for brains but thats alright. You're a nice guy and you've got plenty of brawn for all the other rangers. You can be a pretty serious individual. Lighten up a bit will ya? God, it's been a while, hasn't it. Two reasons: 1.) I've been so busy going out of town with my parents. It's sorta become a tradition to go on weekly road trips. 2.) Before this weekend, my sister Jamee had to borrow my internet wires for schoolwork. We fixed that problem by going wireless. Turned 21 this past Tuesday. Along with the wireless internet and keyboard, I got a $10 Blockbuster gift card. That's about all I have to talk about right now. Just wanted to check in and remind you that I'm not dead, and neither is my LJ. | | Sunday, December 26th, 2004 | | 12:37 pm |
My Christmas Stash
How was your Christmas? Mine went as follows: -Scored an XBox, with NFL 2K5 and NBA 2K5, as well as a casino game -Also got a couple PC Games, including Pac-Man World 2, and Monopoly Casino. -CD-Rom drive, to replace my old, busted one. -And, the usual assortment of clothes. Pretty good haul for me this year, with the XBox the definiate highlight. Current Mood: satisfiedCurrent Music: Colts vs. Chargers | | Tuesday, November 30th, 2004 | | 7:50 pm |

It's been a while... miss me?
Took a couple months longer than expected (or even wanted, for that matter), but my DSL is back, which means I return to LJ. There's just too much stuff that's happened since my absence, and most of it you've already heard anyway, so I'll make this brief. Just checking in to let you know I'm back. | | Friday, September 24th, 2004 | | 11:01 am |
Next time you hear from me here, I'll be in a different part of Iowa. Parents came home early this week. We're making final preparations to move into our new house in Elcart, in the central portion of Iowa. We leave tomorrow, so I'll be sure to give you a report when we get there. Current Mood: excited |
